When the property search starts, everyone hopes to fall upon their perfect villa, but finding it often proves to be challenging. Inevitably, most properties will require updating to a greater or lesser degree to make them perfect for you.

A large amount of Provençal properties, although often lovely from the outside, can actually be quite dark inside, with small rooms and old-fashioned bathrooms and kitchens. They are crying out for a great design eye to go in and maximise their potential, opening them up to the sun and the fantastic views of the Côte d’Azur and bringing them up to date sympathetically.

Over the last 30 years, Clive has established a reputation for re-designing houses, seeing through the raw material to bring them to their full potential. Fully conversant with French building regulations and knowing his way around the bureaucracy surrounding construction permits certainly helps. His natural eye for the potential in a building does the rest.

Renovating your home can make all the difference; as little or as much as you want. Extensions can create additional guest rooms or a large eat-in kitchen. Perhaps a pool house with a summer kitchen would be the icing on your cake? Sometimes a guest house that is independent from the main property, is a great idea that can solve all sorts of problems!

And don’t forget that any improvements will increase your property’s potential rent-able value, and its eventual re-sale value, should you ever wish to move on.

French building regulations are, however, very strict. Choose a company that is fully aware of them and used to dealing with the French planning authorities. If you are buying a property with the intention of extending it, check before you sign, that you will be legally allowed to carry out the work that you wish to do.
